FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Parent-Child Home Program (PCHP), a leading early childhood, school readiness organization working in 15 states and five countries, is proud to announce the launch of its new name and brand identity – ParentChild+.

“Our wonderful network of partners across the country and around the world, have worked with tens of thousands of children and families, working together to transform their lives. And yet, people often focus on only one aspect of our work… early literacy. But our staff, program families, and program communities, know we are so much more,” says Sarah Walzer, ParentChild+ CEO.

As we focus on sustaining and growing, in existing and new communities, we knew it was time to expand the world’s understanding of who we are, what our outcomes are, how we are impacting our staff, the families with whom we work, and the communities in which we work.

We needed to expand our story, so all of you will tell everyone you know how uniquely effective this program is. How what we provide does not stop at early literacy. We are providing early opportunity. We are building parent-child attachment, school readiness, and school success for America’s overlooked and underserved families. We are doing it every day of the year, in America’s most neglected and under-funded neighborhoods. And we are doing it with deep community knowledge, a welcoming smile, with joy and with passion for children and families, in over 50 languages.

All too often our children and parents rarely hear the word “opportunity.” Because, in truth, poverty is not merely the lack of money, it is the lack of opportunities, the utter lack of possibility.

We use education to help families find a pathway out of poverty, to level the educational playing field before children ever enter their first classroom, and help families see and access a future full of possibilities.

2019 has been an exciting year for ParentChild+. Prior to today’s brand announcement, we launched our first site in Detroit, Michigan, with Orchards Children’s Services a nationally accredited organization that has been serving children and families throughout Southeast Michigan since 1962 as our implementation partner. This expansion was made possible by a generous 3-year grant made by the Ballmer Group.  ParentChild+ was also selected as the 2019 GreenLight Bay Area portfolio organization. Over the past year, GreenLight worked with ParentChild+ to build exciting local partnerships with FIRST 5 Santa Clara County (“FIRST 5”) and Family Resource Centers operators SOMOS Mayfair and Catholic Charities of Santa Clara County. The expansion of ParentChild+ into Detroit and the Bay Area allows us to reach more of the hardest to reach families and provide them with equal possibilities from the start.

About ParentChild+

ParentChild+ uses education to break the cycle of poverty for under-resourced families with young children. Through an international network of program sites, ParentChild+ works one-on-one with families and with family child care providers to ensure children achieve their greatest potential in school and in life. Our dual models enable the Program to blanket underserved communities with school readiness supports and reach families with children four and under who would otherwise not be ready for school. Highly trained early learning specialists engage families and FCC providers by modeling reading, conversation, and play activities. Through one-on-one visits to families and visits to providers and children in home-based care settings, ParentChild+ builds opportunities for the most vulnerable children and families. Since 1965, ParentChild+ has been assisting underserved communities in replicating and expanding these proven models, setting children on the road to school and life success and strengthening families, providers and communities.
